The surface reads like an archaeological cross-section, with horizontal strata of color stacked and bleeding into one another from top to bottom: a raw, textured band of burnt orange and deep red dominates the upper register with rhythmic vertical marks pressed or scraped into the paint, suggesting script, fencing, or urban texture. Below it, bands of olive, mustard, and sage green shift across the middle ground, interrupted by a bold drip of amber-orange that falls straight through the composition like a fault line. A wide field of pale sky blue and soft teal opens across the left and center, and the lower right anchors into deep crimson and brown, marked with a grid of black vertical lines that give that corner a completely different visual weight and rhythm.

Exposed raw canvas weaves through the composition in places — not as accident but as texture, another layer in a painting that has clearly been worked, reconsidered, and worked again.
